Man gunned down in encounter

GHAZIABAD, January 7: The Ghaziabad Police gunned down a suspected gangster in Modinagar early this morning, reportedly when he, along with his accomplices, was fleeing with stolen electronic goods. The deceased has not been identified yet.

After the police received information about some miscreants who had escaped with electronic goods from Tewatiya Electronics K N Modi Complex in a truck, a team tracked down the vehicle. When the driver was asked to stop the vehicle, the passengers apparently stepped out of the truck and opened fire at the police team. One of the miscreants was killed in the ensuing crossfire. The police recovered 13 colour television sets, two washing machines, eight music systems, eight remote controls and one briefcase from the truck. One country-made pistol was recovered from the miscreants.
