Man drowns while performing father8217;s last rites

NAGPUR, SEPT 6: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old man was drowned in the Ambada lake while he was immersing the mortal remains of his father, who passed away 10 days back.

The incident occurred around 10 am yesterday when victim Mahipal Chetram Raut and his relatives reached the lake, three km from Ramtek near here, to perform the post-death rituals.

Standing along the banks for immersing the mortal remains, Mahipal slipped and fell into the waters. He died before people could pull him out, police said.

A case of accidental death has been registered and a probe is on.
