PUNE, MARCH 13: Tamil Nadu could not have had it better on Day One of their final Super League Ranji Trophy cricket match against Maharashtra, at Poona Club today.

Dropped chances amid some sloppy fielding by the home side helped Tamil Nadu move towards the 300-mark, with two of their recognised batsmen 8212; Robin Singh and Reuben Paul 8212; still to come in.

At draw of stumps, the visitors were 282 for the loss of five wickets, with middle-order batsmen JR Madan Gopal at the crease, going strong on 62. After the departure of D Vasu, Madan Gopal and S Mahesh were at the crease when the stumps were drawn.

CUTTACK: Shib Sundar Das repaid the selectors8217; confidence in appointing him the skipper on the eve of the match by notching up a sedate unbeaten century along with Pravanjan Mullick who made 113 to help Orissa seize the initiative on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Super League tie versus Delhi at the Barabati Stadium here on Saturday. The hostswere comfortably placed at 278 for three at draw of stumps.
