It8217;s all an illusion,8221; Magician Vijay Raghuvir begins his shows with this announcement. 8220;I do not wish to fool people into believing that as a magician I have some kind of supernatural powers. But my success lies in the fact that people still believe in magic and sit through my shows,8221; he says.

An electronics engineer by training, Vijay turned to his father8217;s vocation after Raghuvir Sr. announced his retirement in 1979. 8220;There were still a few shows to be done and my father asked me if I was interested,8221; Ever since, Vijay has kept his tryst with the magic wand. Vijay attributes this ability to cast a successful spell to his father, whom he used to assist at his magic shows since the age of five. 8220; He taught me that improvisation and innovation are important in live performances. I always have my wits about me when I perform because there is no fixed script for me to follow,8221; he says.

Vijay varies the jokes that he uses in the performances and uses different sequences. After all every show is a different experience,8221;he says. And what are the spells he casts 8211; Well, magicians never tell.
