
CHANDIGARH, Nov 20: A trip to the former summer Capital, Shimla, will now be a pleasure cruise, with the much awaited luxury rail coach, Shivalik Queen, being flagged-off on the Kalka-Shimla route today.
A statement issued here said that the coach will be attached with the Shivalik Express, which departs from Kalka at 6.20 a.m.
The coach is divided into two compartments, each having two coupes. The one-way fare per coupe, inclusive of catering and service charges, is Rs 750. The coach is equipped with ultra-modern amenities and fittings including wall-to-wall carpets, music system, fancy lights and shower in the bathroom, chrome-plated racks, altimeter, besides having large windows for a panoramic view.
The coach was flagged-off from Kalka by Punjab Governor Lt Gen B. K. N. Chibber retd, who travelled up to Barog in the coach along with Divisional Railway Manager R. S. Grover. Two mountain top luxury cottages along with a badminton court for tourists are being constructed there.
