LIC retain title on progressive scores

FEBRUARY 3: NAGPUR: Two-and-a-half points from Life Insurance Corporation, tied cumulative total and calculation of progressive scores, summed up Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSCB)’s march to the retain the title in the 23rd BPCL National Team Chess Championship.

After end of the seventh and final round, PSCB, Bank Sports Board (BSB) and Indian Airlines (IA) were locked with 19 points each. PSCB emerged champions after calculating the progressive scores, while BSB and IA were placed second and third respectively. Overnight leaders, LIC had to content with the fourth spot with 18.5 points.
Results (final round): LIC lost to PSCB (1.5-2.5); Venus Chess Academy lost to BSB (0.5-3.5); Indian Airlines bt Maharashtra (3.5-0.5); Indian Railways bt Tamil Nadu (3-1); Nagpur Youth bt VCA (2.5-1.5); ICF bt Gujarat (3.5-0.5); Air Force bt T Nagar Chess Academy (3-1); AP lost to UP (1-3); Nagpur Chess Academy-II bt Nagpur Chess Academy-Kids (3.5-0.5); Nagpur Chess Academy-I lost to Gondia(0-4).
