AHMEDABAD, NOV 18: The day was made for the amateur astronomers of the city when they spotted 24 meteors early on Thursday morning. The meteor shower started at 4.56 am and continued for the next 98 minutes, according to amateur astronomer Swetal Pankaj Jhaveri.

Jhaveri, who saw the shower from Satellite area, said the meteors were seen over the eastern horizon. Six of the meteors were quite bright and lasted a few seconds. The meteors arose from the centre of Leo constellation, which was seen between 43 to 68 degrees, he said.

As compared to the meteor shower on November 17, 1998, this morning8217;s shower was a subdued affair. Jhaveri said he had spotted 36 meteors in 65 minutes last year.
