
MUMBAI, JANUARY 18: Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand foray in the Corus Super Grandmaster Chess Tournament was checked by Hungarian Peter Leko, who held the world number 2 to a draw in the third round played at Wijk Ann Zee The Netherlands on Tuesday.
While Anand had to be content with a draw, Russians Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Kramnik and Jeroen Piket Netherlands posted victories to share the lead logging 2.5 points each, according to information reaching here. Kasparov upstaged Van Wely, Piket downed Jan Timman and Kramnik defeated Nigel Short respectively. Anand had to be content with the second spot with two points to his credit so far.
The 13-round all-play-all tournament has a whopping average rating of 2696 ELO and comes in the Category 18 as per Fide tournament rating.
