Former Indian team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus is all set to conduct an intensive coaching course for all the trainers at the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy.
Leipus is making a quick one-day visit to the city tomorrow to discuss the plans with former Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya. The Aussie fitness expert, who donned the Team India colours for six long years, will conduct three separate fitness training courses with trainers of the NCA8217;s five zonal wings.
Speaking to The Indian Express from Bangalore, the chief of the Bangalore academy, Brijesh Patel gave a lowdown on the new fitness training module, scheduled to kick off in the next few months. 8220;We had decided on bringing in Leipus a long time back, well before things were worked out for in details for the Indian team camp. Soon, Leipus came over and spent some time with the national team8217;s camp here. So, now that he8217;s got a fair idea of the academy as well, we will very shortly launch the special fitness courses conducted entirely by Leipus,8221; Patel said.
According to the NCA boss, the Aussie will conduct three distinct and thorough programmes for about five to 10 trainers and physios registered with the Bangalore academy. Patel elaborated: 8220;There will be three parallel courses in all. Leipus will segregate the trainers into three groups. Leipus will undertake Level I, II and III courses for these Zonal Cricket Academy ZCA trainers.8221;
