
Some good news for golf lovers in Lucknow. Two golf courses are soon going to come up in the state capital.
According to officials of the Lucknow Development Authority LDA, the first golf course will be developed at a prominent site behind Sahara Shahar in Gomti Nagar Extension. The other will be developed near IIM-Lucknow under Phase 1 of Prabandh Nagar Housing Scheme at Sitapur Road.
8220;They will be developed on 108-acres area each and have 18 holes,8221; said LDA Vice-Chairman Mukesh Kumar Meshram.
He added that while land acquisition was underway at Jankipuram Extension for Prabandh Nagar Housing Scheme, land is already available for the Gomti Nagar Extension scheme.
8220;The golf courses will not only earn revenue for the LDA but also attract people to turn up for purchasing properties in LDA-developed housing schemes. As per suggestions from visitors, necessary services will be allowed to be developed in the vicinity of the golf courses,8221; he added.
Though the LDA board is yet to approve the projects, Meshram said that a decision in this regard will be taken in the next few weeks.
8220;There is drainage problem in Gomti Nagar Extension area. So, the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee, has been assigned the task to study the area and give suggestions to improve the drainage facility. A feasibility study of both the proposed sites will be conducted to design the plan, estimate the cost and set the time frame for the completion of projects,8221; he said.
Meshram said the LDA may take the help of private agencies to develop the golf courses.
