BANGALORE, JAN 30: The Technology Demonstrator 1 TD-1 of the Light Combat Aircraft LCA made its second flight today. The undercarriage was 8220;cycled8221; once 8212; briefly retracted 8212; during the flight.

Piloted by Wg Cdr Rajiv Kothiyal, TD-1 flew for 20 minutes in the morning. The first flight had lasted for about 18 minutes.

The team was satisfied with the hydraulics and flying controls. In the next few flights, the aim would be to fully retract the undercarriage, thus testing the flight control system and the functioning of the undercarriage itself.

If three to four flights are notched up, the LCA stands a better chance of being flown over Air Force Station Yelahanka during the Aero India 2001 air show in February.
