NEW DELHI, May 1: Lawyers at the three district courts, Tis Hazari, Patiala House and Karkardooma, have decided to call off their strike after being assured by Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma this evening that an inquiry will be ordered into the alleged assault on an advocate by the CM8217;s security guards.

Advocate Jasraj Choudhary was returning to his Surajmal Vihar residence on Tuesday when his car reportedly intercepted the CM8217;s convoy near 33 Shyamnath Marg, the Delhi government8217;s guest house. The CM8217;s security guards in the last jeep asked him to move immediately, and then allegedly beat him up.

Lawyers at Karkardooma Court, where Choudhary practises, went on strike on Thursday to protest against the alleged attack. Today, they were joined by their colleagues in the two other trial courts.

Honorary Secretary of the Delhi Bar Association Rajiv Khosla said: 8220;The CM said that he had no knowledge of the incident. He also expressed his regret over the incident. We asked for the suspension of the security guards, after which the CM ordered an inquiry into the matter.8221; The meeting was also attended by members of the New Delhi Bar Association and Shahdara Bar Association.
