A Lashkar-e-Toiba ideologue has said that 8220;the entire Pakistani nation8221; is with Syed Ali Shah Geelani, a Hurriyat hardliner whose rally in Srinagar last week stirred up a political storm and led to the arrest of four of his party leaders.

Hafiz Mohammad Sayeed, who is also the chief of the Jamat-ud-Dawa, was quoted on its site as having told a Friday congregation in Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi, that the Indian government had registered cases against Geelani and his associates for unfurling Pakistani flags at their April 22 rally, so the people of Pakistan must send a message to Geelani that the entire Pakistani nation was with him and 8220;would sacrifice everything for the freedom of Kashmir.8221;

Sayeed also criticised the Pakistan government, saying it was damaging the 8220;freedom struggle8221; in Kashmir. He said the government talked of building a dam, but where would the water come from. 8220;First of all, you have to liberate Kashmir for that.8221; Pakistan8217;s founder, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, had described Kashmir as Pakistan8217;s jugular, but the present rulers were undoing the freedom movement there, he said. Citing Rahul Gandhi8217;s remarks on the Gandhi family8217;s role in dividing Pakistan and creating Bangladesh, Sayeed said, 8220;With the facts that are coming to the fore, there remains no reason to establish friendly relations with India.8221; He said there were internal and external conspiracies against Pakistan, so the nation should dissolve differences between Sindhis, Balochs, and Pathans to unite under jihad. The US, he said, was threatening Iran but the real danger was to Pakistan and other Islamic nations.
