La Lollo stands for polls

Italy8217;s Fifties screen superstar Gina Lollobrigida La Lollo will stand in the June elections to the European Parliament as a candidate of the Democrats, a movement founded in February by ex-premier Romano Prodi, the group said on Thursday.

The actress, who will celebrate her 72nd birthday in July, was a top pin-up of her era, and star of such screen successes as Trapeze in 1956 and Solomon and Sheba in 1959.
