Kudos to N.R. Narayana Murthy (Infosys chief to PM: Probe, speak to family, get Whistleblower Act, December 9) for speaking his mind and asking for justice in the Satyendra Dubey murder case. But I am afraid unless the demand is raised continuously, at various forums by our business leaders, it will have no effect.
Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley is demanding for an investigation into Ajit Jogi’s misdeeds, into the ‘‘cash for MLAs’’ scandal. Not once have any of these leaders said a word about Dubey.

India looks to be on its way to rivalling countries like Nigeria in institutionalising corruption. Political leaders justify corruption by saying those in other parties are equally guilty. The real casualties are upright and talented people like Satyendra Dubey. But I am sure he will not be the last such courageous crusader, whose story will go reported or unreported.

Thanks to Infosys’s Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy for taking up the issue and talking about it in public. We want more people of stature to push for justice in the murder of Satyendra Dubey — and of honesty.

Thank you, Justice B.P. Jeevan Reddy, for informing us about the law that has not been passed for 24 months (Had Govt acted on our draft whistleblower Bill, passed law, Dubey wouldn’t have died, The Indian Express, December 9). We understand why.
If the law had been passed, politicians and bureaucrats would have been the first to suffer. Will someone cut his own throat?
It takes the likes of Telgi only a few months to swindle the nation. But to get a bill passed to protect a citizen who exposes misdeeds, even 24 months is not enough.

The Indian Express has always been very active in investigative journalism, and it is therefore preferable to the rather colourless, characterless other “mainstream dailies.” But I imagine that this daily spotlight on the Dubey slaining is more a measure of Express’s compunction (on not picking the scent when Mr Satyendra Dubey was actually alive) than any real purpose of vigilance. The fact is Express is too apolitical (as perhaps it should be) to do anything audacious, and well, worthwhile

It is good at least one MP cares to bring up the Dubey murder in Parliament. The government seems too busy eating laddoos after the BJP victory in the state elections. It is least bothered.

Apropos Narayana Murthy’s message, India has started speaking. Let this continue. Let us not rest till justice is done.
