If the handmade local SG balls are not found up to the mark in the ongoing England-India cricket series, Australian kookaburra could be selected as an additional supplier. BCCI, which has already selected kookaburra8217;s white ball for use in ODIs, is now close to ending SG8217;s monopoly on supplying the more prestigious Test balls, following complaints about performance and replacement rates.

8220;We are looking for alternate balls as we can8217;t depend on just one,8221; said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah. The board pays Rs 550 12 for each SG ball, the sole supplier of the balls in India. PTI
