Kiwis complete 5-0 rout of WI

A record, one-day cricket partnership of 170 against the West Indies by Roger Twose and Nathan Astle helped New Zealand on Tuesday. Twose and Astle’s heroics helped the Kiwis to a total of 302 for six and an eventual 20-run win.

The West Indies at last showed some spine, lasting until the final over in their chase on a good pitch, with Sherwin Campbell leading the way with 71 in the total of 282.

New Zealand’s total was their seventh highest one-day score and their eighth time past 300. The result sent the West Indies home with a winless record in their nine matches on tour.

After drawing their two first-class games, they lost the Testseries 0-2 before the five straight one-day losses. It left them with the worst record of any team to embark on a full tour of New Zealand, worse than even the 1982-83 Sri Lankan team who won one game out of 10.
