Kirsten checks in

Newly-appointed Indian coach Gary Kirsten got the first feel of things he is going to expect on his new assignment. As he walked out of the Bangalore airport this evening, he was received by a large media contingent. Despite this overwhelming reception, he seemed at ease he stopped to speak to the media.

He spoke about his eagerness to watch the Indian players in action during the Test. 8220;Besides, I am also looking forward to the members of the support staff,8221; he said. As Kirsten reached the team hotel, the team management was busy with the match meeting.

Later, he was invited by Kumble to his home, where the team was assembling for a dinner. The one important point that former South African opener stressed on his arrival was the significance of mental conditioning in modern sport. When asked if he plans to have the mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton as a part of the support staff, he said: 8220;Nothing is confirmed yet. He has not signed anything, yet.
