
PUNE, May 13: Pune Police Boy8217;s Kishore Jadhav made most of it against hapless Kirkeeans scoring four goals in the teams 6-1 verdict, on the second day of the Aga Khan Open hockey tournament, at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation poligras stadium here today.
St Joseph8217;s Pride were shown the exit door by Poona City Police who scored a not so impressive 3-1 win in the earlier match of the day.
Kirkeeans and Pune Police Boys were matched evenly when one looked at the number of penalty corners they earned, but it was the latter who scored while Kirkeeans were mere pedestrains in the run of play.
The game was just two minute when Kishore Jadhav put the Police Boys ahead, and he struck again 16 minutes later for Dilip Mandlik to score the third goal just before the lemon break.
Harish Chikne was the play maker for them as he masterminded two of the three goals that were scored.
Four minutes after the Kishore Jadhav was again in the picture when he combined with Sachin Phalande to score the fourth goal for his team.
With Kishore Jadhav not showing any initiative in moving the scoreboard, the Police Boys could not increase the score. It took them 10 minutes to come to scoring ways and they found the net twice in a span of four minutes, with Rajesh Khande and Javid Khan scoring one goal each.
The young Akhil Leo Cardozo of Kirkeeans, stationed at the Pune Police Boys striking circle missed a couple of chances, but had the last laugh when he reduced the margin combing well with none other than his father Leo Cardozo.Chandu Khandagale scored a brace as Poona City Police, the semifinalists in the MHA senior league registered a 3-1 win over St Joseph8217;s Pride.
Chandu Khandagale scored in the 18th and 29th minutes of play. Harish Sapkal scored the other goal for them. Sabir Khan reduced the margin for St Joseph8217;s Pride.
