Amid fears over the safety of Pakistani Hindus following the slaying of an engineer from the minority community by a militant group, the government will submit a report on the incident to the Parliament.

Pakistan8217;s Minister of State for Minorities Mushtaq Victor has assured the National Assembly that the government will investigate the kidnapping and killing of Geeresh Kumar in Sindh province and submit the report to the House.

On Wednesday, police found the remains of Kumar, a Hindu engineer who was kidnapped last year, in an abandoned house in Sachal Sarmast Colony in Hyderabad, Sindh, during a pre-dawn raid. The police arrested seven people, including five activists of the banned outfit Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.

Police suspect the killing could be part of a campaign by the militant group to target Hindus in the region.

Kumar was kidnapped on August 17 last year when four people, one wearing a police uniform, barged into his flat and took him away after tying his younger brother Santosh.

Kumar8217;s father Sispal Das lodged an FIR after the family received ransom calls from the kidnappers a month later.
