NASHIK, SEPT 12: Forest officials, with the aid of villagers, successfully trapped a leopard which had spread terror at the Chatori Shivar in Nifad Taluka in this district, for about one-and-half years.
According to the forest department, the ferrocious animal was responsible for the loss of cattle and other animals of the villagers who feared coming out of their houses in the dark for fear of being attacked by the wild cat. The leopard has reportedly killed three dogs, three cows and about three to four puppies of the villagers.
The Forest Department laid a trap and the villagers contributed to buy a goat, which was tied to a cage to lure the leopard. The animal fell prey to the trick and was trapped. Hundreds of villagers gathered to get a glimpse of the animal.
The forest department said that they would release the leopard later.
