Kids8217; theatre workshop gets underway

CHANDIGARH, May 27: A children8217;s Theatre Workshop got underway at Gandhi Smarak Bhawan here today.

Twelve children, aged 7 to 15 years, are participating in this summer vacation programme organised by Gulmohar Arts. According to workshop coordinator Surinder Pal Kalra: quot;Our main aim is to teach children the basics of theatre and do it in such a manner that they gain confidence in themselves.quot; The children will learn yog-asans and exercises for the face, eyes and voice modulation; they will experiment with mime and theatre games.

According to Kulbir Kaur, a teacher at the workshop, quot;Theatre and film personalities will be invited to interact with the children; singer Hans Raj Hans will meet the kids on June 3 and film director and producer Yogesh Chopra is also expected to be a part of the workshop.quot; The workshop8217;s grand finale will be a play which the children will stage at Tagore Theatre on June 27.
