
CHANDIGARH Dec 17: Children dressed as polythene and paper bags with quot;noquot; and quot;yesquot; written on them respectively staged a demonstration against the use of polybags.
The students of the DAV Public School, Mohali, participated in the rally asking the public to stop the usage of the polybags as they posed a grave threat to the environment.
The children presented a street play which demonstrated the harmful effects of polythene. The children were carrying banners and placards, some of which read,quot;green world clean worldquot;, quot;use jute bagsquot;, quot;say no to poly-bagsquot;. The children of the school also recited poems and delivered lectures highlighting the harmful consequence of using polybags.
The demonstration was a part of the series of protests against the use of polybags organised by the Indian Council For Environmental Education in association with Traders Association Sector 17, Chandigarh.
The students had put in an effort to organise the street play to attract attention of the passers-by towards their cause of making the society free of polybags.
