After brother Sohail, friend and model-turned-actor Katrina Kaif arrived at Jodhpur Jail today but could not meet Salman Khan. He had already had three visitors, the number allotted to a convicted person.
Meanwhile, Khan8217;s hopes of a quick exit from jail were shattered today when a Sessions court refused to immediately entertain his plea for granting bail. While accepting the star8217;s application, the court fixed Thursday as the day for hearing his case. Salman, who is serving a five-year term in the jail for poaching, will have to spend one more night behind bars. Katrina is now expected to meet Khan in the prisoner8217;s barracks in the Jodhpur Sessions court when Salman appears before the judge.
District Judge G S Surana will hear Salman8217;s arguments tomorrow before taking a decision on his petition. Though the Bollywood star has hired a fresh set of lawyers to fight his case, the bail application was presented in the court by Hastimal Saraswat, who has fought his case so far. He cited 38 reasons for an early hearing of the bail application, including his mother8217;s sickness, before the court.
The bail petition was filed after the court reopened
after the day Salman was found guilty of poaching a chinkara deer near Jodhpur eight years ago. The court had found Khan guilty under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act.
