
Chennai, October 15: Russia8217;s Garry Kasparov pulled off a remarkable draw from a hopeless position with a mixture of bravado and luck as compatriot Vladimir Kramnik missed a few wins under time pressure and tension in an intense fourth game of the Braingames World Chess Championship at London on Saturday. Kramnik leads the 16-game match 2.5-1.5.
Kramnik seems to be ready for everything. Kasparov surprised him with the Queen8217;s Gambit but Kramnik coolly swapped Queens early which has been the pattern of this match. He played a novelty on the 16th move and got an edge in the middlegame. Coming under pressure, Kasparov lost a piece on the 42nd move but had some compensation two pawns and opponents open King.
With defeat staring on the face, Kasparov fought hard, creating many obstacles for his opponent and achieved a drawn position around the second time control. Kasparov undid all the good work by blundering on the 58th move Rh1 but Kramnik missed 59 Rg8 winning and the game ended in draw on the 74th move.
