
KOCHI, January 28: Two new meet record performances, both by boys, marked the second day8217;s programme of the 13th Junior National athletic meet at the Maharaja8217;s College ground here today.
The first record to go was in the u-16 boys8217; discus throw. Karamvir Singh, a Ludhiana-school boy, erased the two-year-old meet record set by Jagajit Singh Delhi, 54.36. Karavir, hailing from Hissar district in Haryana, hurled the disc to 55.70m, which is incidentally a new national record too in this category.
Kerala8217;s Juby Thomas, a trainee of Olympian Suresh Babu, brought down the two-year-old high jump meet record, clearing the bar at 1.96m. The earlier meet record stood in the name of Dara Singh of Delhi.
