The Kanpur district court has again received a bomb threat 8212; this is the second in the last 45 days.

On Thursday, a postcard reached the office of District Judge Subhash Chandra, warning of blasts in the court premises within three days.

The postcard, which did not mention the motive of the blasts, was signed by one Ibrahim 8212; who claimed to be a resident of Kanpur dehat.

In September, one Ejaz had sent a similar postcard threatening to blow away the Kanpur court premises on September 26. It, however, proved to be a hoax.

Superintendent of Police Kanpur East Manoj Sonkar said: 8220;We have taken the issue seriously and are trying to trace the accused.8221; Additional security has been deployed at the gates of the court and everyone on the premises is being thoroughly frisked, he added. 8220;Anti-sabotage teams are conducting regular inspections of the area and teams from several police stations have been deployed near the court,8221; added Sonkar.

Advocates, however, blamed the police for their complacency.

The General Secretary of the Kanpur Bar Association KBA, Indeevar Bajpai, told The Indian Express: 8220;No one is concerned about the safety of thousands of advocates and litigants visiting the court.8221;

A delegation from the KBA will soon meet the SSP and submit a memorandum regarding the indifference of the police, he added.
