Stressing that a developed Madhya Pradesh would lead to a developed India, the President today unfurled his model for development of the state based on the concept of ‘‘providing urban amenities in rural areas’’.

Inaugurating a seminar on ‘‘Alternative Strategies for Development’’, President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam said: ‘‘Physical connectivity, electronic connectivity, knowledge connectivity and economic connectivity would develop villages in this country.’’ He also outlined an integrated model for development that included identification of engines of growth, tribal and semi-arid regional development.

Kalam referred to interlinking of rivers, generating solar power and power generation through municipal waste as some ways to improve the conditions of the rural and urban areas in MP. In this context, he also stressed on the need to promote bio-diesel — derived from the Jetropha plant.
