AMRITSAR, June 2: After assuming the office of the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Arun B. Saharia visited the Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple and the Jallianwala Bagh here today.

On reaching the Golden Temple, he was given a warm welcome by the Shiromani Gurdawara Parbandhak Committee authorities. Accompanied by his wife and members of family, Justice Saharia took a “parkarma” of the Temple and paid obeisance at sanctum sanctorum. He listened to “gurbani” and also paid obeisance at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

On reaching the information centre of the Temple, he was presented a “siropa”, a model of the Golden Temple and a set of religious books as a mark of respect by Dyal Singh, manager, Golden Temple, on behalf of the SGPC.Justice Saharia was welcomed at the Durgiana Temple by the mandir managing committee and after paying obeisance at the complex, he was presented a “siropa” and a portrait of the Temple.

At the Jallianwala Bagh, he was received by S. K. Nukherjee, secretary, Jallianwala Bagh Memorial Trust. He visited the “shaheedi chitarshala” and paid tributes to martyrs of the freedom struggle by placing floral wreath over the flame of liberty here.

Justice Saharia was accompanied by Amarjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, K. S. Kauldhar, District and Sessions Judge, Amritsar, Bhupinder Singh, Senior Sub-Judge, Kuldip Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate and other senior civil and police officers.
