CHANDIGARH, Nov 2: Justice S C Malte of the Punjab and Haryana High Court retired today, after serving in this High Court for four years. With his retirement the total strength of judges in the High Court has gone down to 22, against the sanctioned strength of 40 judges.
Justice Malte joined the Punjab and Haryana High Court on November 1, 1994, after being transferred from the Bombay High Court. He was earlier elevated to the bench of Bombay High Court on October 6, 1994, where he was taken as a permanent judge.
Hailing from Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, he earlier served as District and Sessions Judge from April 1982 onwards, before which he was a lawyer. He entered the profession in October 1960.
