Judicial system discussed

CHANDIGARH, Sept 6: As the morals of the people have declined and materialistic considerations have increased, it is difficult for lawyers and judges to remain above board. This was stated by senior advocate H. L. Sibbal at a discussion on quot;Judicial System, Corruption and the Common Manquot; organised by Janshakti under the auspices of the Servants of the People Society, here today.At the same time he said that democracy exists in the country because of the judiciary. He said that there was inefficiency in judiciary due to a large number of cases.

Senior advocate Balram Gupta said that the judicial system quot;suffered a setback in 1973 when three judges of the Supreme Court were superceded.quot;

Among others who participated in the discussion included Veer Singh and R S Grewal from the Department of Laws, Servants of the People Society secretary Onkar Chand and Janshakti convenor P P Arya.
