Judge ‘bribery’ case: Sanjeev Bansal surrenders

The police immediately sealed the police station and started interrogating the accused. They also filmed the entire interview. The sources said Bansal had disclosed the name of a high court judge to whom the packet containing Rs 15 lakh was meant to be delivered. He detailed the entire sequence of ‘goof-ups’ committed by his munshi Prakash Ram while delivering the money.

At about 6 am, Nirmal Singh was taken to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 for a medical check-up. Bansal, too, was taken to the hospital at around 10.30 am.

At the court, the police did not allow Bansal to interact with the media.

Meanwhile, more than 60 lawyers signed as counsel for Bansal to show solidarity with him. Senior advocates of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, including Rajiv Atmaram, Mohan Jain and Pankaj Bhardwaj, were present in the courtroom throughout the hearing.

An application to allow daily medical examination of Bansal was also accepted by the court. It allowed Atmaram and Jain to meet Bansal everyday for one hour between 7 pm to 8 pm.
