FATEHGARH SAHIB, Dec 27: The annual Shahidi Jor Mela, in memory of the sons of the Tenth Sikh Guru, ceremonially concluded here today with the bhog ceremony of Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Jyoti Saroop and a religious procession, which was attended by Tohra and Badal group members separately.

A religious procession was taken out on the concluding day which started from Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib with the ardaas8217; performed by Bhai Jaswinder Singh, head granthi, Fatehgarh Sahib. The palanquine of Guru Granth Sahib was laid on a well decorated vehicle and it was led by Panj Piaras8217;.

Gurdwara Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Bhai Manjit Singh and Damdama Sahib Jathedar Bhai Kewal Singh did not participate in the procession. While SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra walked along the procession, the district unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal Badal led by MLA Balwant Singh Shahpur and Gurpreet Singh Bhatti, participated in the procession in a separate group.

Different gatka parties were the main attraction of the procession, where distinctive skill of martial arts were also exhibited. Kirtani jathas from different towns sang hymns of gurbani.Children clad in traditional khalsai8217; dress and Nihangs were also the centre of attraction. Bagpipers and brass bands were playing melodious tunes and later an aeroplane showered flowers on the congregation.

The procession completed its one and a half km distance in four hours and terimated at Gurdwara Jyoti Saroop, where the sons of Guru Gobind Singh were cremated by Diwan Todar Mal.Senior Superintendent of Police Paramraj Singh said no untoward incident was reported during the mela. Deputy Commissioner T.R. Sarangal thanked the people for their peaceful participation. Sarangal announced holiday for Monday in government offices in the district.

More than 12 lakh people paid their obeisance during the three days of the mela.
