Job not yet over

PUNE, June 28: Among those who have submitted the PAN forms and think that their job is over, the Income-Tax Department thinks otherwise. Forms of a fairly large number of people seeking permanent account number, are likely to be disqualified for not filling the forms properly.

Sources at the I-T head office revealed that a large number of forms, who have not been filled properly as per the given instructions will be sent back to the applicants.

8220;The work of collection of PAN form is being mainly done by the lower division clerks. Although they do carry out the preliminary screening of form on the submission counter itself, the thorough screening will be done by the senior staff and officers,8221; said a senior IT official.

These will include close scrutiny of the authenticity of information provided in the form such as sources of income, the official added.
