Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa, who is facing trial in a Rs 65-crore disproportionate assets case, has declared that she is worth Rs 24.6 crore.

Jayalalithaa, who filed her nomination papers for Andipatti today, made the declaration before the returning officer.

The declaration stated that her assets, in the form of immovable property, constituted her posh Poes Graden bungalow worth Rs 5 crore, an adjoining 1.5 ground plot Rs 95 lakh, a house in Hyderabad Rs 1.45 cr, farm in Hyderabad Rs 4 cr, two flats in Chennai Rs 29 lakh, 50 per cent share in Jaya Publications Rs 10 cr and Sasi Enterprises Rs 1 cr, fixed deposits worth Rs 2 crore and cash worth Rs 20,000.

Also included in her declaration are five vehicles 8212; two Tata Safaris, one Tata Sierra, an Ambassador and a Ford Ikon. Jayalalithaa also mentioned that a special court in Chennai confiscated her jewels while hearing her wealth case. The case was later transferred to a special court in Bangalore.

Jaya today submitted her papers to the District Backward Class Welfare Officer at the Collectorate in Theni. This is for the third consecutive time that she is seeking mandate from Andipatti, which was once represented by her political mentor and late CM M G Ramachandran.

During the last Assembly polls, her papers were rejected from this constituency on the plea that she had filed nominations from more than two constituencies in violation of electoral rules.

After the Supreme Court acquitted her in the Tansi land case, she won the seat in a by-election in the 2002.
