CHANDIGARH, Dec 4: There was probably no one in the crowd who had not seen Jassi and Annamika on the TV channels before. But they were still there, shivering cold, to catch a glimpse of their favourite pop stars. Dressed in black jeans and a white blazer, even Jassi had the buttons of his black shirt done to the top. And it was no wonder the Musical Nite was wrapped up well before 98217;O clock .

Organised at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, by the Chandigarh Carnival Association and Dainik Bhaskar, the nite was a treat for those who could let their hair down and dance to Punjabi folk tunes. However, the December chill played a spoilsport as a majority of the audience seemed frozen on their seats. A bunch of lively youngsters, however, kept high the spirits of their stars. Amidst hovering limelights, every effort was made by the stage to activate more such bhangra lovers.

Besides the numbers from his maiden album, Jassi surprised the crowd with some popular bolis from Punjabi culture. While the youngsters could only relish the rhyme, it set the older lot in the audience foot-tapping. The popstar also came out with an unreleased number, Ik Kudi from his new album. Annamika8217;s Intezar and some fast Punjabi songs were also received well by the audience.

Even though Jassi didn8217;t include much of bhangra in his performance, Annamika brought the stage to life as she bubbled with continuous jumps to complimented her singing. Nevertheless, the show had little reasons to brave the chill for someone who had already been to the earlier performances of these singers in the city. Not to mention the cricket lovers who wouldn8217;t have stood the sight of the mutilated cricket stadium in any case.
