CHANDIGARH, AUG 17: Director Technical Education Dr S.K. Aggarwal today presented a draft amounting to Rs 86,998 to UT Home Secretary N.K. Jain, in aid of the families of martyrs who laid down their lives at the Kargil front. Dr Aggarwal said that the draft was to be forwarded to the Prime Minister8217;s Relief Fund.

  • Others who contributed towards the fund include: Directorate of Technical Education contributed a sum of Rs 6,182; Central Polytechnic, Sector 26, contributed a sum of Rs 35,400; Government Polytechnic for Women, Sector 10, Rs 16,200; Government Craft Institute for Women, Sector 11, Rs 11,886 and Industrial Training Institute, Sector 28, Rs 14,000.
  • Faculty and pupils of Government Middle School, Jayanti Majri, district Ropar, handed over a draft for Rs 2,525 to the Ropar District Education Officer as contribution towards the Punjab War Heroes8217; Family Relief Fund.
  • The principal, staff members, students and members of the Parent-Teachers8217; Association of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21, have contributed a sum of Rs 1 lakh towards the Army Central Welfare Fund.
  • Officers and Staff of Punjab Region of Employees State Insurance Corporation have collected Rs 89,000 for the Prime Minister8217;s Kargil Relief Fund by donating one day salary.
  • Members of Government Pensioners8217; Association and its affiliates have donated Rs 44,505 to the Punjab War Heroes Relief Fund.
  • Employees of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board have contributed Rs 3,21,000 for the welfare of the Kargil casualties.
  • SAS NAGAR-based Good Shepherd Social Service Centre has contributed Rs 10,000 to the Central Welfare Fund. The fund is meant for Kargil casualties and the families of the those Army personal who lost their lives in this sector.
