This one8217;s got a topical premise: if sting operations are the talk of every town, why, let8217;s make a film on it.
It8217;s Breaking News picks up the sordid story of a powerful-man-preying-on-helpless-young-woman, and places a reluctant crime reporter Koel and her team, in the victim8217;s shabby little room with a spy cam. They record, in excruciating detail, a sequence in bed, with a corpulent cop heaving and grunting over a near-naked girl. Director Vishal Inamdar spares us no blushes, and we are left wondering why we are being offered badly-made soft porn in the guise of a film. How did the censors let this one go?
8216;Sting operations8217;, the way they8217;ve come to be popularised on our TV channels, especially those that are happy to do salacious stories, have made it into the popular lexicon. Sober talk shows devote time to the phenomenon, and the jury is still out on whether they are good or bad.
If you go by Its Breaking News, though, you8217;d never want to hear about a hidden camera again. The production values are shoddy, and the execution is amateurish. What8217;s Koel Purie doing in a movie like this?
