Loos, who lost her job when Beckham ditched her PR company, said: ‘‘I was wrong to have done what I did. I know that. But it did happen and I am not going to live with a lie for the rest of my life.’’

Loos said that when she went home ‘‘I felt very breathless, very happy, smiling. I got home and my mother said ‘Where have you spent the night?’ and she could just tell by the look on my face’’. She said her mother was supportive but had told her: ‘‘Be very careful. There is a family involved who could get hurt, and children. So I was very aware of what I was getting myself into.
