Has terrorism connotations forced presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to abandon his signature fist bump? The 47-year-old Illinois senator, who aspires to be the first black-American US president, refused to bump fists with a boy as he was touring the Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville, Ohio.

As the boy outstretched his first, Obama said no and added, 8220;If I start that8230; ,8221; His voice then trailed off, CNN reported.

Obama popularised the move last month when he and his wife Michelle bumped fists on the night he formally captured the party8217;s presidential nomination in his epic battle with Hillary Clinton.

Video of the duo fist bumping became widely popular on the internet, leading the Washington Post to declare it 8220;the first bump heard round the world.8217;8220; Fist bump, however, is commonly identified as a terrorist hand shake. In the June six edition of the Fox8217; News America8217;s pulse, a host while referring to the Obama8217;s friendly fist bumping reportedly said 8220;A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab? A gesture everyone seems to interpret differently8221;.

The Obama camp has in the past vociferously countered claims that he is a Muslim. Attempts by his aides to remove two scarf wearing women from a phot-op with Obama in Michigan also led to a controversy recently.
