VADODARA, June 28: Agitated parents and student union leaders of M S University ransacked the office of the District Education Officer on Monday in protest against the government8217;s decision to implement the grant-in-aid policy.

The protestors, led by the Shikshan Bachao Samiti and Youth Congress leaders, demanded that all eligible students be accommodated in the HSC Science course in schools. They alleged that if the grant-in-aid policy was implemented, education would become elitist8217;.

Amidst slogan shouting and protests, members of the Youth Congress hurled abuses while parents threatened to strengthen their agitation if no action in favour of the students was taken soon. Presenting a list of students who had failed to secure admission in Class XI science despite securing more than 80 per cent marks, the Shikshan Bachao Samiti said the grant-in-aid policy was affecting admissions since the administration was sanctioning more non-granted classes. One of the Samiti members said, 8220;We want the DEO to assure us that all the eligible students will be admitted to schools of their choice.

DEO V Nanavati said that the administration would see to it that all the candidates who were eligible would be admitted to schools of their choice if there were vacancies.
