
The grand hunt for the 8220;Corporate Golf Tiger8221; of India has entered the final stage with the conclusion of the Delhi leg of the Standard Chartered Corporate Golf Tiger. The mega event, having attracted the cregrave;me de le cregrave;me of the corporate world, saw some intense competition to decide the three elite spots from the Northern Region en route to the grand finale.
Each of the participants aimed at laying their hands on the title and displayed great spirit of competition. Such was the field that we saw almost half the field in the 0-15 category, implying the quality. However tough that the competition was, the easy format laid out for the one-day event ensured that the decision makers also had some fun.
Asian Games gold medalist Amit Luthra doesn8217;t seem to age 8212; neither in form nor fitness. He still has the same bite with which the Indian team in won the medal in 1982.
At the Golden Green Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Amit played a round of 1-under 71 to walk way as the winner in the 8216;Gross Category8217;, while Soumya Dutta stormed into the finals on the virtue of being the winner in the 0-15 category. The third player to make it to the grand finale was Rohit Rehlan, who emerged victorious in the 16-24 handicap category. Aashna Monga emerged as the 8220;Corporate Golf Tigress8221;, an extra feature that has been added during the second edition of the tournament.
While the corporate czars were engrossed in a serious battle, the other competitions like the 8220;Closest to pin8221; and the 8220;Longest Drive8221; kept every participant enthused. This is what events like the Standard Chartered Corporate Golf Tiger is all about. It gives an opportunity for even for a high handicapper to feel like a professional.
