Injured cop now stable

Thirty-five-year old Balwant Rana, Head Constable with the Special Cell of the Delhi Police, was caught in the gunfire between terrorists and the police on Friday morning at Jamia Nagar. The constable sustained a bullet wound in his right arm and was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for surgery, where he is now recuperating.

8220;Balwant8217;s condition is stable, he has a gunshot wound in his right arm and we will operate on him soon. There is also a possibility that the impact of the bullet could have fractured his bone,8221; Assistant Professor of Surgery at the AIIMS Trauma Centre said.

Rana8217;s elderly father was in Bulandshahar in UP when he heard that his son had been injured, 8220;I did not get a call from anyone and only got to know that Balwant was injured when the news was flashed on television. I called up my elder son, who is also with the Delhi Police, and then rushed to Delhi. I have been informed that he is not in danger,8221; Kumar Pal Singh told Newsline.
