Inflation rises to 10.72 per cent

Inflation rose 10.72 pct on Oct 25, marginally above the previous week's 10.68 per cent.

India8217;s wholesale price index rose 10.72 per cent in the 12 months to Oct. 25, marginally above the previous week8217;s annual rise of 10.68 per cent, government data showed on Thursday.

The rate was also above a median forecast of 10.45 per cent in a Reuters poll of analysts. Inflation for the week ended Aug. 30 was revised up to 12.38 per cent from 12.10 percent.

The annual inflation rate was 3.11 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year.

The wholesale price index is more closely watched than the consumer price index, which is published monthly, because it covers a higher number of products and is released weekly.
