New Delhi, Aug 31: A stern warning to partymen, newly elected BJP president Bangaru Laxman today said that acts of indiscipline within the organisation would not be tolerated and immediate action would be initiated against the guilty.

quot;We would like to take immediate action as and when indiscipline comes to our notice,quot; Laxman told a crowded press conference, the first after assuming the top post.

Top party leaders including Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had asked partymen at party8217;s National Council meeting at Nagpur where Lakshman assumed the office, not to ventilate their grievances in public and quot;learn to behave as members of the ruling party.quot;

To a question on the confrontation between BJP and the Sangh Parivar, the new party president said, quot;They RSS have their own point of view and I don8217;t think there is much of a confrontation between us and I don8217;t foresee any such thing.quot;

Asked about the Vishwa Hindu Parishad8217;s demand for dismissal of the Farooq Abdullah Government in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of increasing militancy in the state, Laxman said that VHP was a separate organisation.

quot;It has a right to express its own views and they want the Centre to dismiss the Abdullah Government. But we are not for it,quot; the BJP president asserted.

On the Swadeshi Jagran Manch8217;s criticism of Government8217;s economic policies, Lakshman said the Manch may have its own views but quot;I am bound by the economic resolution passed by the party8217;s National Council in Nagpur.quot;

On signing of CTBT, he said the Government would go by consensus and there was no pressure to sign it and felt that the treaty in its present form was quot;discriminatory and therefore India is opposed to it.quot;

To a question that while the party was emphasising on the need for encouraging women8217;s involvement in party affairs, then why it was discriminating against the women leaders like Sushma Swaraj and Uma Bharati, he said quot;nobody has been sidelined and whoever is ready to work, we would give them responsibility.quot;

Asked whether he would give a call to leaders like Kalyan Singh and Shankersinh Vaghela to return to the partyfold, he said quot;I don8217;t want to give any call on my own, but it is for them to decide.quot;

To a question whether the party supported the demand of its ally, Trinamool Congress, for imposition of President8217;s rule in West Bengal, he said quot;we have not taken a view on that.
