India146;s stimulus package deferred

The much awaited government stimulus package aimed at countering impact of global downturn on the Indian economy is believed to have been deferred by a day.

The Government package, different from the RBI8217;s announcements, is likely to be unveiled on Sunday by the Prime Minister8217;s office, a source said.

The Government is expected to announce several fiscal measures such as cut in excise duty on some products, to boost the growth. A plan for big-time infrastructure funding is also awaited.
