PUNE, Aug 24: Indians had a good day on the third round of the Mind Sports Olympiad8217;s inaugural Masters Chess tournament today. Two out of the three Indians 8212; K Humpy and V Sarvanan 8212; recorded victories, while double Grandmaster-norm holder Abhijit Kunte drew against GM Baburin at the Olympiad Conference Centre, Kinsington London.

V Sarvanan outclassed T Spanton in black side of English Opening. Sarvanan penetrated in opponent8217;s Kingside and forced the King to remain in centre. Spanton resigned on 22nd move when he lost apiece.

Sarvanan now has two points from three games. Kunte 2.5 drew with GM Baburin in the Nimzo Indian Defence with black pieces in 30 moves. It was an equal game with both players following the theory till 20 moves. Kunte played a new move Qc78242; in the middle-game which gave black equality. Later, he sacrificed a pawn on move 28 to repeat the position. Both agreed for a draw after 30 moves. It was Kunte8217;s first draw in the tournament.
