CHINSURAH WB, DEC 30: Reigning women8217;s champions Indian Railways entered the final of the 47th Senior National Volleyball Championship for the 17th time thrashing Tamil Nadu 15-10, 15-2, 15-10 here on Wednesday.

The Railway women began confidently opening up a comfortable lead right from the start. Sangitya K and Salomi Ramu displayed good understanding at the net while Shanty Joseph impressed all with her tremendous blocking.

Despite the initial lead, the women from Tamil Nadu bridged the gap halfway through the first set, largely thanks to a good blocking game by their spikers. However, Joseph and Sangita came to their team8217;s rescue as they pounded the rivals for the last few points. They took the first set at 15-10.

In the second set, the Tamil Nadu girls seemed to lack concentration and conceded meekly to a humiliating 15-2 scoreline.

The third set was a replay of the first as TN despite a better performance failed to come back.
