BANGKOK, DEC 7: India, which commenced with a dismal performance in the 13th edition of the Asian Games rounded off the day with the women8217;s swimming relay squad finishing last in the 2x400m free style.

The Indian quartet of Sikha Tandon, Richa Mishra, Meghana Narayan and Nisha Millet, which was allowed to participate in the final as there was only 8 teams in the fray, clocked 9 minutes 02.71 seconds.

China won the gold in a record time of 8 minutes 8 seconds. Japan and Chinese Taipei finished second and third respectively clocking 8:12.06 and 8:18.92.

Nothing exciting was expected from the Indian relay team which was here to have an international exposure.

The swimmers hardly participate in any international event. The age group of 13 Sikha Tandon to 16 Nisha Millet of the girls was said to be the right one for such an exposure.

Besides the relay team, India has also brought in Sebastian Xavier and Sandeep Kakkar for the Games.
