Indian director honoured

LILLE FRANCE, Aug 28: Tournament director AS Vishwanathan, the only Indian on the directors8217; panel officiating the World bridge championships, being held here, has emerged with a rare honour.

Vishy, as he is popularly known in bridge circles, was called by a Lebanese player in the third round of the mixed pairs on Board 1 to seek redress on an infringement.

India had something to cheer abouyt. Rula8217;s team A Rula, A Goel, J Shah, R Venkatraman and S Ghose scored 180 vps in 10 rounds in the consolation zonal championships to emerge 7th in the group but the best zonal amongst the BFAAME countries team 8212; not to qualify for the round of 64.
